2012 Honda CRV

The 2012 Honda CR-V is the best crossover for you if you want the all-new version of a benchmark compact SUV.

The 2012 Honda CR-V will be fully redesigned for the first time since model-year 2007. Honda’s guarding details about the 2012 CR-V until nearer its release, but expect more adventurous styling, additional features, and improved fuel economy. The 2012 model probably will be a little larger than the 2007-2011 CR-V but remain a five-seat, four-door wagon based on the same under-skin structure as the redesigned 2012 Honda Civic compact car.

Should you wait for the 2012 Honda CR-V or buy a 2011 Honda CR-V? Wait for the 2012 CR-V. Honda’s motivated to recapture the compact-crossover sales leadership that slipped away from it as the third-generation CR-V aged. So the 2012 CR-V should benefit in a host of ways from an energized design team. Buy a 2011 CR-V if you want to take advantage of close-out sales on a compact SUV that still appeals for roominess, reliability, and road manners.

2011 Koenigsegg Agera

Koenigsegg is satisfied only when they reach ultimate performance. They want their cars to be outstanding in all important areas. The Koenigsegg Agera travels from a standing start to 60 mph in just 3 seconds on its way to a top speed of up to 245 mph... and possibly beyond.

Braking from 186 mph only takes 6.5 seconds and 0-186-0 mph has independently been verified by SportAuto magazine to be under 30 seconds - the only production car in the world to have been able to achieve this amazing feat. Cornering is up to 1.5 G on normal road tires and even higher on Cup tires, showcasing Koenigsegg's remarkable mechanical grip levels.

Driving a Koenigsegg Agera is about controlling your instincts, sharpening your reflexes, and commanding respect from the head turning crowd as the beautiful beast roars by.

Finally, Agera is also short for the Greek word Ageratos, which in ancient Greek means "ageless". The Koenigsegg Agera is a testament to time. The original shape and concept of the Koenigsegg CC, created 15 years ago, is still valid, fresh and highly competitive today. The Koenigsegg Agera still stays true to the original philosophy, shape and size of the original CC. At the same time, it looks, feels and performs like something belonging to the future.

2012 Buick Sports Car

Buick has unveiled the all-new Verano compact luxury sedan, that will premier at the 2011 Detroit motor show.

The Verano will go on sale in late 2011 and will be available with equipment like 10 airbags, heated steering wheel and a next-generation radio system with OnStar. Powering the Verano will be a 177bhp 2.4 litre petrol engine, that produces 230Nm (170lb-ft) of torque. This is linked to a 6 speed automatic and will allow the car to hit 60mph from 0mph in 8 seconds. A 31mpg highway figure is expected.

A 2.0 litre turbocharged petrol will be offered in the future.

John Schwegman, vice president of Buick marketing said:

"Verano expands our lineup, continues Buick's momentum and gives us a great opportunity to attract a new generation of customers with a product that delivers on their expectations for design, performance and technology"

"It is a smart choice that delivers unexpected luxury in a compact sedan - and it will compete head-to-head with competitors from Audi and Lexus."

Inside, the Verano receives soft-touch plastics and premium leather on the dashboard. Buick claims the Verano is the quietest car in its class thanks to acoustical laminated glass, triple door seals, and specially manufactured 17” alloy wheels.

Standard features will include 17” alloy wheels, 10 airbags (twin front, side, curtain, knees, and rear-side), ambient lighting, StabiliTrak electronic stability control, blue projector beam headlamps, climate control, electronic parking brake, front & rear electric windows, steering wheel mounted audio controls w/cruise control, leather steering wheel, electric power steering, and AUX input.

2012 USA Jeep

Everyone makes mistakes...that's a given. The issue isn't making the mistake but the way you handle it and making sure you don't make mistakes about certain things - Things that are very very important.

When you are the PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES, you don't make errors about who you awarded the Medal of Honor to and whether he was awarded the medal posthumously. Unless you are a former Community Organizer who doesn't respect the military......

YOU are the PRESIDENT - YOU are speaking about a MEDAL OF HONOR recipient...You can't make a mistake in speaking about this, especially when you are speaking to his comrades in arms.

Really??? - I know he has issues when he speaks without a teleprompter but REALLY??

Please, I am begging you...don't re-elect this fool....we have already had enough of his level of incompetence. His lack of care for those who gave the ultimate sacrifice is appalling. He is hazarding our nation and our military.

Commander In Chief Misspeaks About Soldier Killed in Afghanistan
Dana Ritter
CBN News White House Producer

During his remarks to troops at Fort Drum today, the President was reminiscing about the times he has spent with the US Army's 10th Mountain Division, when he got something wrong.

" Throughout my service, first as a senator and then as a presidential candidate and then as a President, I’ve always run into you guys. And for some reason it’s always in some rough spots.

First time I saw 10th Mountain Division, you guys were in southern Iraq. When I went back to visit Afghanistan, you guys were the first ones there. I had the great honor of seeing some of you because a comrade of yours, Jared Monti, was the first person who I was able to award the Medal of Honor to who actually came back and wasn’t receiving it posthumously."

The problem is, Jared Monti was killed in action in Afghanistan, on June 21, 2006. He was awarded the Medal of Honor posthumously, September 17, 2009. President Obama handed the framed medal to his parents, Paul and Janet Monti. He and the First Lady comforted them in the Oval Office following the ceremony.

I contacted the White House to see what happened. I'm told the President didn't have prepared remarks.

White House Press Secretary Jay Carney said, "“At Fort Drum, the President misspoke when discussing the first Medal of Honor he presented posthumously to Jared Monti, who was a member of the 10th Mountain Division. The President paid tribute to Monti in his remarks to troops in Afghanistan in March 2010. Last year, the President presented the Medal of Honor to Salvatore Giunta, who was the first living recipient of the Medal who served in Afghanistan.”

The gaffe comes one day after the President announced his plan to bring troops home from Afghanistan at a faster pace. He deliberately spoke at Fort Drum because of the 10th Mountain Division's multiple deployments to Afghanistan

2011 Renault Sports

Renault has released the details of its fastest ever road car – the 2011 Megane Renault Sport 265 Trophy – ahead of its unveiling at the Nurburgring this weekend. Renault fans and CarAdvice regulars will recognise this car from the video we posted at the beginning of last week.

The special edition Megane R.S. 265 Trophy will be limited to just 500 examples worldwide, and unfortunately it seems unlikely that any will make their way to Australia.

Renault Australia’s Emily Ambrosy confirmed the Megane R.S. 265 Trophy was “unavailable in Australia at this time”, and although she would not rule out a local introduction, she admitted they were likely to be snapped up quickly in Europe.

The high performance Megane Renault Sport 265 gets an additional 11kW and 20Nm, taking total power to 195kW (265 horsepower) and 360Nm.

The R.S. 265 Trophy shaves one-tenth of a second off the R.S. 250’s sprint time, launching from 0-100km/h in six seconds flat. The 265’s top speed is 254km/h, 3km/h faster than the standard Megane R.S. 250.

Renault Sport’s engineers have uprated the engine’s maximum turbo pressure to 2.5 bar (up by 0.2) and revised the air intake to account for the higher pressure and running temperatures.

The Megane R.S. 265 Trophy has a unique exterior appearance, highlighted by glossy black red-rimmed 19-inch alloy wheels, Bridgestone Potenza RE050A tyres, red ‘Trophy’ decals, and LED daytime running lights. The 265 also reintroduces the Liquid Yellow i.d. metallic paint, reborn from the Clio Renault Sport 182 and V6 255, and the Megane R26 and R26.R.

2011 Rolls Royce Coupe

The aluminum engine is good for lots of power, and features a Bugatti Veyron-like Power Reserve percentage dial. No all-wheel drive gadgetry here either, as power gets to the ground the old-fashioned way: through the rear wheels, and thanks to a six-speed automatic transmission. With 75 percent of its 531 lb-ft of torque available at 1,000 rpm --- that’s 398 lb-ft! -- it’s a good thing the convertible is fitted with electronic traction control.

Other technologies like direct injection, variable valve and camshaft timing mean this is a thoroughly modern engine, and the same one you’d find in the Phantom sedan. The numbers are 453 horsepower at 5,350 rpm and 531 lb-ft at 3,500 rpm, returning 5.7-second 0-60 mph sprints and an artificial top speed of 149 mph.

The engine gets its own battery to ensure it always fires up, while the on-board electronics and lights are powered by another one. Likewise, there are dual alternators, and both batteries are mounted under the trunk floor for better weight balance.

All that weight sits on an air suspension that can be raised at the touch of a button by an inch, but returns to its normal ride height past about 37 mph.

Another unique feature -- apart from the brushed aluminum hood -- is the split trunk-lid Rolls Royce calls a picnic boot. It allows the vertical lid to which the license plate mounts to swing down, much like a pick-up truck’s tailgate, while the horizontal lid is conventionally hinged.

2011 Mercedes Benz

The 2011 Mazda3 ranks 8 out of 33 Affordable Small Cars. This ranking is based on our analysis of 41 published reviews and test drives of the Mazda3, and our analysis of reliability and safety data.

Reviewers give the 2011 Mazda3 a thumbs up for its high performance and nice interior, but many grimace at its smiling front grill. If you’re willing to ignore the Mazda3’s toothless grin, it’s a great option that provides a touch of sass at an affordable price.

Because the Mazda3 was just redesigned for 2010, the 2011 Mazda3 is almost identical to the 2010. Los Angeles Times explains, “That means you shouldn't expect any significant changes until 2013, when Mazda should freshen the front and rear styling to regenerate interest in the Mazda3 for the last two or three years of the current model's life cycle.” Reviewers agree that the Mazda3 maintains its reputation as a zippy, fun car with a high-quality feel that appeals to buyers who want a touch of sass in their commute but also want to stick to a budget.

Reviewers are most impressed with the Mazda3’s performance, and say the 3’s refined engine and sophisticated suspension produce a fun and aggressive driving experience. The Mazda3 ranks with the top drivers in the class, the Mini Cooper, the Honda Fit and the Ford Fiesta, all of which the auto press regards for their great driving dynamics.

Reviewers praise the 2011 Mazda3’s interior almost as much as its performance. Mazda fitted the 3 with top-notch amenities and didn’t use cheap materials, making the interior one of the nicest in the class. The interior, however, does have a few quirks. In comparison to the competition, reviewers say the controls are not easy to use, and the navigation screen is small and hard to read.

Also, like the 2010 Mazda3, the 2011’s exterior isn’t perfect. One of the biggest complaints reviewers had with the 2010 model is its smiling grill, which made the car look less aggressive and goofy. The grill has not changed for the 2011, and it probably won’t until 2013.  Despite its grinning front fascia, reviewers say the 2011 Mazda3 is a great value in the world of economy cars, particularly if you're looking for a sporty feel.

2011 Lexus LFA

The front-engine, rear-wheel drive LFA hopes to tempt the well-healed enthusiast faraway from their Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Audi R8s and also the like. And just like the Italian marques, Lexus is offering extensive personalisation solutions, including 30 exterior colours, 3 wheel varieties and six brake calliper options; inside one can pick concerning either 12 leather selections or 10 variants of alcantara.

The formidable performance belonging to the V10 is managed through a similarly advanced transmission, a purpose-designed six-speed Automated Sequential Gearbox (ASG) that drives a corner wheels by using a limited slip differential. To support accomplish the optimum 48:52 front-to-rear weight distribution, it can be from a transaxle mounted over the rear axle.

The ASG is operated by paddle shifts attached to the steering column and is engineered for exceptionally quick shifts: an upshift may be effected in barely 0.2 seconds.

The program has four driving modes: Auto, Sport, Normal and Wet, triggered with a selector dial on the dashboard. Every mode incorporates a particular gearshift system, and engine and brake handle logic systems to allow the driving force tailor the car’s performance to accommodate operating illnesses.

The low-slung cabin is split into 3 zones: the electro-mechanical zone, which includes the metal framework on the car’s assembly; a zone, with two seats placed correct in the middle with the auto; plus the driving zone, with high-tech instrumentation that can bring driver and machine together.

The cabin is hand-built, with driver-focused ergonomics. The seats, upholstered in fine leather and Alcantara, give our prime a higher standard back and side support required in a car able to 200mph-plus performance. The trim echoes the cutting-edge materials used within the Lexus LFA’s construction, with exposed regions of both matt and highly polished carbon fibre. Trim facts are carried out in brushed metal plus the floor-hinged brake and throttle pedals are created of forged aluminum. Just as the outdoors finish, entrepreneurs can pick various indoors colours and facts to accomodate individual flavour.
